Flyers Narrowly Defeat Kings

By Julian B

The highly potent Kings are certainly no pushover and Friday's contest played to that tune. Both clubs fought through a scoreless first in front of 12,600 fans which featured three successful penalty kills by the Flyers. The game remained scoreless until the 8:05 mark when Evander Kane potted his 16th of the season from RNH and Byfuglien. The Kings tied the game 5 minutes into the 3rd on a goal from McCarron. The Flyers took control after that with back to back goals from Alex Bourret at 11:53 and 16:54. LA would add a goal with the extra skater at 19:13 from Alexandrov. The final score, 3-2 Flyers. The Kings failed to score on six powerplays and could not solve Richard Bachman more than twice on 30 attempts. Viktor Fasth made 25 stops in the loss.

Three Stars:

1) Alex Bourret - 2 G, +1, 5 shots, 2 hits
2) Richard Bachman - 28 saves
3) Evander Kane - 1 G, +2, 4 shots, 1 hit

Notable mention:

Dustin Byfuglien assisted on all three goals, was a +2 and had 4 hits in 28 minutes of ice time. How he was not a game star is beyond comprehension.

The Flyers ever so random fight for consistency continues on yet they continue to lead their division by three over the Rangers. On the AHL side, the Phantoms and Monarchs rallied to a rare low scoring 1-1 tie.
