Kings and Monatch updates

By Bobby Berger

The season has not gone the way the L.A. Kings had hoped, however there are some faint signs of life lately. The Kings are 4-5-1 in their last 10. Some of the Kings star players have also started contributing again. Jared McCann since being moved from C to LW has now put up 10 points (3 G, 7 A) in 10 games. Trevor Zegras has also started to contribute, although probably not enough to save his endorsement. The good news is that the season is only about a quarter through, so there still remains time to salvage what remains of the season. GM Berger has a young club, so any changes may have to come from within barring a blockbuster deal.

On the youth side, the Monarchs remain scorching hot. Their last game was a 25-11 shootout with the Worchester Sharks. The Monarchs still have the best record in the AHL and have about 5 players in the top 30 in scoring. Players like Arthur Kaliyev and Liam Ohgren are chomping at the bit for their turn. Will it be sooner or later? The season will tell.
