Flyers Score 7, Clinch Division

By Julian B

Two games are all that remain for Philly in the 2028 campaign. Game 80 saw the Avalanche visit the Flyers in what turned out to be a heavy scoring contest. Not so surprising for two clubs that average over three goals per game. The final score was 7-4, a big night for Tage Thompson who scored his second hat-trick of the season. Charlie McAvoy broke out with two goals while Backstrom, Kane and Baerstchi all had two points. Justus Annunen made 20 saves for his 11th win.

With now 40 wins on the season and a loss from the Rangers; Philly secured the Metropolitan division and second seed in the eastern conference. There is still a big question mark surrounding who the Flyers will meet in round one but it is looking like either matchup will be a test right off the bat. The club is just hoping to remain healthy and give themselves the best shot at another deep playoff run.

Over in the AHL, the Phantoms also hit 40 wins (40-32-8) and continue to see big offensive numbers from their budding prospects. Warren Foegele has seemingly led the club all season. The 23 year old has 42 goals and 71 assists on the season.

Next up, Detroit comes to town for their 2nd and final match-up of the season.
