Blues after 30 games

By Jason Besancenez

After 30 games the St. Louis Blues are showing signs of life. They are 5-5 in the last 10 games and have been putting the puck in the net, which was a major issue in the first 20 games. Still, the Blues are only averaging 2.3 goals for a game, while giving up 3 per game. Goalie Alex Nedeljkovic has posed at 2.73 goals against and a 91.4 save percentage, which is what the Blue front office was expecting when they signed him to a ten-year contract last offseason. On the offensive side of things, Rasmus Kupari is leading the team with 26 points and is also +8. Young defenseman Bowen Byram has 14 points, 12 of them assists and is +1. It is great to see contributions from the young future stars of this team. The Blue need a lot more on the offensive side of the ice to be able to climb in the standings. As we are nearing the halfway point in the season, if the Blue are going to make a climb up the standings, it is going to have to be very soon, or it will be too late.

In prospect news, the Peoria Rivermen farm team for the Blues is having no issues scoring goals. There are currently 18 players on that farm team that are averaging more than a point a game, and there are 6 players that are averaging over 1.5 points a game. Center Dylan Gambrell is leading that team with 55 points in 30 games. It is great to see so much production from that farm team, the hope is in the seasons to come, those same players can be as productive on the pro team.
