The FNHL's Top Clubs Thus far

The Season is 34% Young

By Julian B

Winnipeg Jets (17-8-3-0) 37 Points
Skylar has built the Jets into something special over the years. The offense is something for goalies to loathe. Parik White who was rumored to be on the market during the off-season, has scored 16 goals (Tied 2nd in the FNHL) and on pace to smash his prior career high of 38 in 2026. Nino Niedereiter has been a playmaking fiend this season with 24 helpers in his 28 games. Evgeny Kuznetsov continues his consistency in Winnipeg scoring 12 and adding 14 assists. 2nd line project center Max Domi has potted 10 goals thus far and appears to be playing himself into lucrative RFA period. On defence, the 33 year old vet Alex Urbom continues his late career bloom with 13 points and a +9. Rasmis Ristolainen has also amassed 13 points to go along with his +10. Jon Gillies could benefit from a string of consistent performance but sits healthily at 2.74 / 0.903.

Carolina Hurricanes (17-9-0-1) 35 Points
First off, the Canes have a solid top six of mostly scoring attributed forwards outside of Monahan who has still potted 10 on the season. Ovechkin leads the way with 13 goals in 27 games and is notably a +16. 'The great 8' is is one of six players on the club with 20+ points. On the back-end, the defensive core is led by 22 year old Miro Heiskanen, surely a household name in the FNHL by now having prior success with the Preds. Heiskanen has 18 points and a +10. Tuuka Rask has been capable in goal but has been feeling the heat from 28 year old Niklas Svedberg who in 8 appearances sports a 0.923 save percentage.

San Jose Sharks (15-7-4-1) 35 Points
Scanning the Sharks roster for a star talent would land on arguably one bonafide star player; Samuel Montembeault. The 26 year old with, 13 years remaining on his deal, has been stellar earning a 2.30 / 0.917. His two shutouts could easily be 5+ at this point. The Sharks have the 5th least goals for of the clubs sitting in a playoff spot (18th overall). Offensively the Sharks are led by Ryan Spooner (19 assists) and Guillaume Latendresse (11 goals). Buchnevich who the Sharks acquired from Philly in the off-season has been a nice addition with 8 goals and 14 assists. Defensively, Jake Bean (16 points/+9) and Cameron Schilling (15 points / +2) lead the club. How long can the Montembeault show keep the Sharks a top team in the league? Will the Sharks use their 3.8+million cap space to improve their offense? Time shall tell.

Edmonton Oilers (16-9-3-0) 35 Points
Another scary offensive system. Nazem Kadri seems to be a consistent for performance in the FNHL. His 56 assists last season may not be met this year but his 50 goal pace has the attention of fans across the league. Mitch Marner is finally showing his expected potential and is on a wild pace for 76 assists, 2X his previous career high. Four other players have 20+ points. On defence, 38 year rough and tough vet Vitaly Anikeyenko has 17 points and a +5.
Stephen Kempfer leads the clubs Dmen with a +16 to complement his 16 points. Antti Raanta is having a solid season thus far at 2.56 / 0.903. Raanta is signed for five more seasons at a relative bargain of 6mil.

Chicago Blackhawks (16-10-2-0) 34 Points
Could have easily featured Vancouver or Nashville her but with 92 goals I'll give Chicago the shout-out. Matt Duchene may be the best offensive talent this league has to offer. At 33 Duchene is the complete package. Through 28 games Matt has 118 shots, 15 goals and 22 assists for 37 points. He currently leads by 2 points over Colorado's youngster Barrett Hayton. Anthony Mantha, Joshua Ho-Sang, Liam Foudy, Travis Konecny... safe to say the talent in Chicago is in place, as its been for years now. Playoff success has been the Achilles heel for the Hawks. Ryan Pulock leads the Hawks back-end with 20 points. Thomas Greiss has left a lot to be desired for Harks fans. Greiss has all the tools to be a top tender but is hovering at a 0.897 through 23 appearances. Nothing a couple shutouts cant solve!

Honorable mention to the other playoff clubs at this time and those trying to fight their way in. Surprising not to see Nashville in a decisively dominant position yet but as with every season the shuffling of positions will be aggressive over the coming weeks.
