Trying to Rehydrate

By Julian B

Flyers fans have been antsy all season, and for good reason. The questions remains, "When will this cup hangover end?". After a cup win you expect your team is at the peak, hence expectations remain high. But 2027 has been filled with inconsistency after inconsistency. So Flyers management took stock of what they had and decided to move a few assets for immediate improvements they are hoping will boost them into the post season. Even if its a first round exit to the Rangers or Habs, the goal right now is to stay afloat as a contender. Philly has a plethora of young talent developing on the farm which made draft picks somewhat expendable. The Flyers added scoring talent over the last couple weeks through the additions of Mikhail Grabovski (San Jose) and Sven Baertschi (CBJ). They have managed 6 wins and a tie in their last 10 games, certainly a pace that can help them hop over Pittsburgh and Carolina down the stretch. But if this season has shown anything, the Flyers and consistency really do not go hand in hand. As it stands now, the Flyers are 3 points back of the Canes with 24 games remaining. The make or break point projects to be around the 83-85 point mark, or in terms of wins needed... 14-15.
