Nearly 75% of the way through the season has taught the Seattle Kraken management a lot about the current state of the team and franchise. In its second year, the team is fighting for a playoff spot and currently sits in the 6th seed in the competitive Western Conference.
Yet despite the success, rumors are swirling that big moves may be afoot in Seattle. Pending UFAs may not finish the season in Seattle, as the team is said to be carefully monitoring the rental market.
Reports from inside the building suggest that the team may cash in its chips and move Plekanec, Latendresse, Murray and Rask for futures over the next several weeks. As the team looks to bring in the Knight era starting next year, the franchise is making alterations to its plans.
One pending UFA, Brandon Gormley is said to be off the table. The Kraken are reportedly planning to lock him up to a major extension in the offseason.
With 11 days to go until the rental market officially opens, a lot of eyes will be on the Pacific Northwest franchise as it prioritizes winning next year over winning this year.
