What to do?

By Connor Moriarty

GM Moriarty has been asking himself this question all season, but the Columbus Blue Jackets continue to disappoint and more changes could be coming.

"We are consistently inconsistent, nothing has been good enough especially for the team we have. We should be winning games and pushing for the playoffs but instead we continue to engage with teams on the trade front because we are searching for answer."

There are rumours swirling that a "retool" may be coming for the Jackets, with names like Baertschi, Couturier, Lindholm, Klingberg, Silfverberg, Hjalmarsson (recently acquired as well) and potentially even Ryan McDonagh being floated out there. It is rumoured that despite not having their own 1st, the Jackets may give up on the season and look for young pieces to retool with, guys that are a year or 2 out and spend the offseason camping them hard. While nothing is set in stone, GM Moriarty will begin the process of gathering info on potential returns for players with and without term, with just about every name on table besides Hischier, Tkachuk, Milano, Sanheim, Dahlin and Andersson.

Only time will tell what GM Moriarty's plans are, but as it has been all season there is still an "Open for Business" sign on his office door.

The Jackets have the day off Wednesday and will travel to Arizona to take on the Yotes Thursday, the back half of a home and home as they look to rebound from a 3-2 loss. Columbus will start Adam Morrison and give Kevin Poulin the night off.
