Well, for once it seems that the team has gotten what it
asked for a week ago. The Canes were
seeing good results on the team stats page, but it was not being reflected in
the win/loss column.
The team has rebounded from a 2-6-2 record in the previous
10 games with a 7-3-0 record since. With
a 5 game winning streak included in that stretch of games.
The team has maintained its strong team stats in the league;
sitting 1st in SF, 2nd in SA, and 3rd in
PP%. Scoring has gone up as well, which
goes hand in hand with the increase in wins.
Hard to explain why this is, but the team opens to build on it.
Melker Karlsson is pacing the offense with 24 pts in 23
games and is currently on a 5 game point streak. He was promoted to the 1st line to
spread out firepower and Karlsson has strived ever since. This move resulted in veteran winger Klepis
dropping down to the 2nd line with young studs Vilardi and Denisenko. With this Klepis’s play has improved game by
game after a slow start.
Fans were curious as to how the trade of Rielly would affect
the team’s defensive play and the blue line’s performance. But, the team has continued its strong play
in its own end and Mercer is now leading the farm team in scoring. Deal looks to be a great move out of the
gate.
