The
Montreal Canadiens have spun their win against the Nashville Predators last
week, that clubs only loss so far, in to five more straight wins that have
taken the team from outside of the playoff picture to leading their division
once again.
The streak may have halted the team from considering something drastic, as
rumors that GM Walsh is shopping Michael Dal Colle have wound down. There was
reportedly 1 or 2 good overtures, but if the ship seems destined to right
itself, there is absolutely no way the Canadiens should be looking in to
trading their number one asset.
Thanks to an injury to Anton Zlobin the Habs were offered some flexibility at
the bottom of the lineup once again, and this led to the season debut of Filip
Chlapik as a top line center. It’s working well so far, with the 24-year old
netting 8 points in 7 games playing between Michael Dal Colle and Nik Bergsfors
(also known as easy mode).
Even with the cap to dress, Philip Lane is now finding himself a healthy
scratch in Montreal, and in all likelihood management has turned all attention
to dumping the 31-year old pending free agent on the first club that offers
something palatable over the next few days. The Habs will need to make the move
upon the return of Anton Zlobin from injury, which will happen in a matter of
days.
