Flyers Earn Road Win over Wings

By Julian B

Despite injury to top 6 forward Pavel Buchnevich, the Flyers took to the ice Saturday afternoon earning two points against conference rival Detroit. Alex Bourret played exceptionally well in his promoted role to line two earning two assists. His line mate Dylan Larkin scored once and added a helper on a goal from Brandon Gormley. It was all Richard Bachman from there as the netminder stopped 26 of 27 en route to the 2-1 victory. A much needed two points early in the season to return the defending champs to a .500 record. The Flyers were 0 for 2 with the extra man while Detroit did not have the benefit of a single powerplay opportunity. The games three stars were Richard Bachman, Dylan Larkin and the Wings Gilbert Brule.

The Flyers will remain on the road and will be in tough tomorrow against the east leading Ottawa Senators (8-2-1). Ottawa's offence is led by veteran Ryan O'Marra (16) who looks poised to lead the Sens back into the playoffs after a couple years absence. Young star Auston Matthews has 12 points in his 11 games and is a threat each and every night. Philly will need to ride the high from todays win over Detroit if they hope to fight for another two points.
