A New League Record?

By Connor Moriarty

Columbus Blue Jackets have started out the season with a strange and very disappointing 0-4-2-2 record where they have potentially set a new league record with 4 OT games in their first 8 games.

"Puck luck? I'm not sure what to say thus far but we've had a disappointing start to the year where we can't seem to buy a win but we definitely haven't played our best. We have given up a league worst 32.8 Shots against per game, which needs to be corrected in order to win a game. Defensively I thought we are better this year than last year but we have been disappointing in our end and need to help Samsonov out back there. Some of our core guys need to step up as well, only a couple guys have actually shown up thus far and we cant rely on Milano and Hischier all year." GM Moriarty had to say prior to Tuesday's game against the Hurricanes.

Despite no wins in 8 games, the Jackets are only 4 points out of the playoff spots in what projects to be a hotly contested Eastern Conference this year.

The Jackets are reportedly in the market for a defenseman to boost their backend and are open to moving around the right prospects in order to get a deal done, sources say. "We know GM Moriarty will be aggressive to avoid giving up a high 1st Rd pick this year, he knows he can't afford to miss the playoffs and we can see him being very aggressive." as reported by a Columbus Dispatch reporter.

Columbus travels to Carolina to take on the Canes where Samsonov will make his 9th start of the season and looks for his first win. Expect to see the lines shuffled to get some of the under producing players going.
