On the Doorstep

By Connor Moriarty

Columbus is close to return to the playoffs for the first time since the 2021 season and have come out making a statement in their first year of the new alignment in the FNHL.

Despite the chance to book their postseason appearance, GM Moriarty has not been impressed with recent play.

“We have had a slow period where guys have gone a little cold and have not given us the chances to book our spot earlier than Sunday in Florida. We want to give our best effort and book our trip back to the playoffs, we want that 2nd spot in the East and as much home ice as possible throughout the playoffs.”

Sonny Milano has had a slow spell, relinquishing the FNHL goal lead by recording only 2 points and 1 goal in his last 12 games.

Riki Helenius will get the start on Sunday as the Jackets visit the Panthers who are vying for their own playoff spot sitting tied for the last playoff spot but played more games than the current holders on Long Island.

Keith Seabrook will miss the game with a minor injury but is expected to return mid week.
