The Young Stars

By Ethan Smedley

The Dallas Stars have been a very up and down team so far this season that has seen the good as well as the bad. I talked to their GM's earlier today and here is what they both said to me, "We understand the things we need to work on, for the rest of the season we just want good play from our youth in the organization." So far they have their 2 young centers Kotkaniemi and Keller in the pros with Tippett, Liljegren and Seider in the farm developing. This season has Clayton Keller posting 9 goals and 12 assists, along with Jesperi Kotkaniemi posting 7 goals and 10 assists in the pros. These are not eye popping stats but Payton Knoph and Ethan Smedley are ok with their rookies play so far. While in the farm Owen Tippett has 14 goals and 20 assists, with his pal Moritz Seider having 6 goals and 14 assists, finally there is Timothy Liljegren who has only played 26 games down here and has 4 goals and 16 assists. The GM's want these 5 to develop into franchise stars in this organization for years to come. While these guys develop, play from Rickard Rakell has been money well spent with the GM's only giving away a second round pick for a potential star RW for this organization.
