Sens Hunt for Consistency

Changes on the horizon?

By Antonio Borrelli

We are in a funk in Ottawa. The roster is playoff worthy, maybe even contender worthy. But we have only won 8 of our first 20 games and are 4 points back of 8th. Line juggling has been happening but the results seem to be the same. A win here and a loss here, but not making up any ground. Connor Hellebuyck has played well enough to give us a chance each game and many of our top talent players are at least close to a point per game. Austin Matthews and Dylan Strome have been good as the top 2 centers with 9 goals each. Jimmy Vesey has stepped in with 15 points and a +6. He is definitely a bright spot on the roster and is benefiting from his trade to Ottawa. Our 3rd line has been a let down. Letestu, Knight and Gallagher have 4 goals and combine for 13 points through their combined 60 games. This needs to change as secondary scoring is as important as ever with the increase of parity in the league. If the Senators cant turn it around in the next 20 or so games there may be a need for big changes. Names we wouldn't have thought to move in the past may need to hit the trade block.
