St. Louis Blues - 10 games into new season.

By Jason Besancenez

The Blues are 3-7-1 at the 11-game mark this season, it is not exactly where we wanted to be, but not far off from expectations. While the Blues organization was looking for improvement over last year, in hopes of eventually making a move toward a playoff spot. For the most part this season, the Blues are performing well. Winning a few games, and the games they are losing, are close games. If we can punch a couple more critical goals in when the game is close, points will start to pile up.

So far this season there are several bright spots. German Rubstov leads the team with 11 points in the 11 games played. Followed closely by Filip Forsberg and Nikita Scherbak with 9. Rookie Rasmus Kupari has 7 points in the 11 contests so far.

The Defense is playing well, an early trade for Derrick Pouliot has allowed the Blues to send Ty Smith back to the farm to continue his development, while the rest of the D is focused on trying to limit the shots on goal, to give rookie net minder Alex Nedeljkovic a chance.

Nedeljkovic is keeping the blues in these games, so far posting an outstanding 2.78 GAA and .906 save percentage. Also has one shutout on this young season.

While 11 games in, the blues organization was looking to secure a few more points than the 7 so far earned, there are encouraging signs that the points may start to pile over the next several games. This team is starting to show some chemistry, and looks to pick-up double-digit points in the next 10 games. The goal at the start of the season was to get a point a game average. If we can finish with 82 points, we should earn a playoff spot. After 11 games we are behind that pace, so need to pick it up in the next set of 10 games.

More to some on this young St. Louis team, stay tuned.
