Flyers Post Deadline Success

By Julian B

Following trading out Nail Yakupov, Matt D'Agostini and Shea Theodore as rentals, the Flyers have finally woken up. They have now won seven of eight games outscoring their opponents 26 to 17. Not a great run when you look at the draft odds but being in the race for Bedard was never the goal this season. Every season the Flyers pursue another cup, adding pieces in the off-season and building from within. The Flyers continued to try line combinations and retooling through trades this season to try and right the ship. If this means Philly drafts outside the top five that is fine in the eyes of the clubs management. Seeing Tage Thompson arise as the points leader and Filip Zadina becoming ever more comfortable since coming over from Anaheim, the rest is gravy heading into a hopeful season in 2030.

Next season expect to see Nicolay Goldobin in the Flyers top 9 (38G-62A-100P through 66 AHL games). Goldobin was acquired from the Lightning in the Matt D'Agostini deal and has continued his elite level of play with the Phantoms.

Next up the Flyers head to Arizona to take on the Coyotes. The Yotes still have a slight chance of working their way into the Western playoff picture so expect a hard fought matchup. Annunen is likely to get the call in goal as the club looks to keep a good balance between the pipes.
