Swaps and Flops

By Julian B

Its been a season of line combination changes and strategy alterations ... yet the results appear unchanged. It is what it is in Philly, the RNG curse is in full charge and shows no sign of slowing. A couple of recent ties are thanks to more consistent goal-tending from Martin Jones since joining the squad three weeks ago. Through 13 games with the Flyers, Jones has a 2.58 GAA and 0.916 save percentage. Great numbers which would result in a winning record right? Nah. There is a lot to learn from this down season but also a whole lot more question-marks for the club who won the cup just 2 seasons ago and made the conference finals last season. What many in Philly believed to be the an even stronger roster than those seasons has proved to be a mess. Justus Annunen has been a bringer of awful luck. Every game he starts seems to result in a multi-goal loss and 4+ goals against. Sure he is young but his underlying attributes are 1B worthy at worst.

More line changes and such to come as the Flyers host the Colorado Avalanche on New Years Day. Here’s to a stronger final 38 games to the season. The Flyers are in no mood to finish last and let Connor Bedard be swept away by more unfavorable RNG.
