2024 Salary Cap: $67.7M

Third Line Shuffle

The Flyers top six have carried the club, as you would expect. However, their secondary scoring from their 3rd line has been less than desired. For a team sitting third in the east (29-16-9-1-4), forwards 7 through 9 have a combined -24 rating and have been the brunt of many negative discussions from fans on the team’s social media postings and their community driven Reddit. To rectify this, the Flyers have shuffled their lines allowing them to ice three potential scoring lines with a greater focus on defense through their bottom six. An experiment that will seek its first result this evening against the Washington Capitals (24-25-4-3-3). This is however not the only reason to shuffle the lines as Philly is hoping to put their worst 10 game stretch behind them which has produced only two wins and two ties.

As the trade deadline and rental period approach, the Flyers will certainly be a team entertaining the trade market. Having already traded their first for Nicklas Backstrom, fans have been lead to believe the club may stand pat or bolster a less significant piece of their roster.
