2024 Salary Cap: $67.7M

Devils Remain Winless

The New Jersey Devils are worst in the....everything. After 8 games, the team is 0-7-1 giving up a league-worst 37 goals in that time. Defense and goaltending has been a nightmare for New Jersey, who thought Jonas Gustavsson would add some stability, but has struggled to even stay healthy. Longtime starter Jonathan Bernier was even worse when he stepped in for the injured Gustavsson.

On defense, John Carlson has just 2 assists and is a -8. Newcomers Seth Jones and Alex Pietrangelo are getting assists, but Alex is a team worst -10.

If there is a bright spot, 25 year old Tyler Johnson, still technically a rookie, has 7 points in 8 games to lead the team. After dominating in the farm system for Winnipeg and Vancouver, Johnson finally made the pros and is making the most of his time on the 2nd line.

Oliver Bjorkstrand, given a chance to make the pro team in his 2nd season, had 3 assists in 8 games and has been reassigned back to the minors to get more experience. Valentin Zykov will now be given a look.

"There are no trades on the horizon," said the Devils GM, "This group needs to figure it out themselves. It's on the coaches and the players."

The Devils are off tomorrow before taking on Phoenix, in what is getting to "Must-win" territory.
