Leadership And Veterans Bring It Home:

Not too many GMs in this league like a team full of aging guys. Toronto does not mind it especially since these aging guys have talent. Toronto this season added guys such as Geoff Sanderson, Glen Murray, and Ray Whitney to the club in order to get some older talent that can push them in the playoffs. Those three guys alone have a combined age of 107, yet they had a combined 86 goals and 185 points. Toronto had the third best record in the Eastern Conference but did have one of the worst home records out of any team in the playoffs. Even in the Finals they went 0-2 and had to make roster changes to adapt to the Kings. Luckily those changes paid off as they proceeded to win 4 in a row and take the series 4-2. Patience was a virtue for Teunenbroek as he stuck with J-S Giguere. In the 200 season, Giguere had some of the worst stats any starting goalie could have accumulated, including a 2.97 GAA, .896 SV% and a record under .500. He stuck with his man and it proved to be worth it as Giguere was lights out in this postseason. Nobody knows what the future holds in store for the aging Toronto Maple Leafs. The future does not matter at this point, currently the Toronto Maple Leafs are FNHL Champs.
