Making The Right Moves:
Many GMs of the FNHL make moves to make moves. Lots of GMs do not make any moves. Then there are the GMs that make the right moves when they are needed the most. Ottawa GM Christopher Kennedy traded away starting goalie Patrick Lalime and brought in the young and less talented Andrew Raycroft to take over the starting duties. Joe Thornton and Jason Smith were also brought in from Boston for a lot of great youth that one day could be impact players in the league. Jeff O'Neill was also brought into the team but good players such as Keith Tkachuk, Steve Sullivan, and Dustin Brown were left to anchor the team. Ottawa did play in the less talented conference overall but their final record does not give this team justice. The development of a great farm system and a good utilization of draft picks and trades made the Ottawa Senators the team that they are now. With Lindros, Tkachuk, Zubov, Sullivan, etc getting up there in age, it still looks great with Dustin Brown, Joe Thornton, Jeff O'Neill, Tim Ramholt, and Andrew Raycroft getting better and better every year. Ottawa taught us this year how to make moves to solidify a team and not over do it. Chemistry is key on a team and even with the moves made, Ottawa had that chemistry.
