Cane's Kick Off Home Opener With A Win

By Duane Goetz

After a very busy off-season in Carolina, the Cane’s
management was looking forward to seeing this new version of their team hit the
ice tonight in Calgary against the powerhouse Flames and they are delighted by
the first step of the 2025 season.

The team leaves Calgary with a hard fought 4 to 3 victory
and 2 points.  This after racking up 38 shots
on net, we were able to put 4 past the Flame’s keeper Subban.

This was an off-season that saw Task be reacquired on a one
year deal, veterans Klepis, Cuma, and Zadorov brought in through free agency
and trades.  Not to mention a very busy
draft and re-tooling of the Cane’s team on the farm.  It was sad to see popular players Doughty and
Stamkos leave through trade, but it was necessary for the team to get younger and
faster.

The team was led by Huberdeau, Monahan, and Vilardi with 2
points each, while rookie Denisenko chipped in with his first career point and newly
acquired Zadorov scored the game winner.

The team did allow too many shots on net at 32, but Rask
played well enough to secure the win.

Next up is a home game against the always tough team from The
City of Brotherly Love.  The Flyers have
always been an organization that has given the local team from Carolina
trouble.
