Blues Mid Season Update

By Jason Besancenez

As we have crossed over the halfway point in the season, progress is being made in St. Louis. Several of the newly acquired players are contributing and the young players that have come up from the farm team are also playing big roles, and producing in those roles.

Forwards producing include Nikita Scherbak, who continues to lead the team in scoring, with 37 points in the 43 games so far this season. Oskar Lindblom has 17 points in the 24 games he has been on the pro team. German Rubstov has 12 points in 17 games playing top minutes.

Trevor Van Riemsdyk and Quinn Hughes have contributed big minutes and points as the new first D pair. Van Riemsdyk has 14 points in the 20 games he has been in St. Louis and is a +3, Hughes is also +3 while having 12 points in the 14 games he has been with the big club. Hughes is showing why he was a top pick in the last draft.

Kevin Poulin in net has been holding up well. He picked up his first shutout of the season, his goals against is 3.48 per game, while facing an astounding 1246 shots so far in the 43 games he has played. Improvements in the skaters in front of him should help his numbers quite a bit.

The shuffling in St. Louis has led to a 5-5-0 record in the last 10 games, so things are moving in the right direction. We are looking for this team to finish strong this season, and start pushing their way up the standings next season.
