"I actually have the notebook that has all the stats and information for every player that has ever played on my team. I also think I figured out the rerate system but I am a little confused with goalies."
- Jay Mohr

From The Mouth of Prez Broche

When I met Jay Mohr in a Dallas bar alongside other FNHL Hall of Famer Christopher Kennedy I thought to myself this can't be him. This guy is a fantasy league giant and he literally looked like he was 4 foot 5. I will tell you what though, there is a lot of hockey passion in that package. He couldn't stay long that night because he had a hockey game but the conversations that we all had were amazing for people who have never met in person. He talked about this notebook that tracks all the players he has and had and analyzes like everything. He didn't bring the notebook with him but even if he did he said he wouldn't let anyone else look at it. Jay is one of the greatest guys I ever got to know and it really made me grateful that a man like this was in my fantasy hockey league. Montreal will win the FNHL cup one day and when they do I want that notebook shipped to me for the real FNHL Hall of Fame. I would be surprised if Jay was shocked by this honor because I think he should know that he was an easy pick for this honor. Jay, we will meet up a few more times in our lives and maybe we can even discuss season 50 one day. Thank you Jay for joining my hockey league and thank you for all the work that you do.

When I think of Jay Mohr, one word comes to mind immediately. Patience. Jay has built the Montreal Canadiens from the ground up and now has one of the most complete franchises in the league. The Canadiens have not always been the most succesful team in the standings, but this has never been a deterent for Jay and he has continued on his course to build Les Habitents back into Cup contenders. Jay and I talk about the league often these days, and his insight into how the sim works and how are league works has helped me building my team. That and him trading me vets for rookies. I expect Jay to have a Stanley Cup parade in Montreal very soon, and when it happens it will be well deserved. Welcome to the Hall Jay.

Let me give you some stats on Mr. Mohr here. 1st season in the FNHL, 67 points. 2nd season, got his team up to 95 points, in 4 less games, which meant a playoff berth. He followed that up with an 86 point campaign, and another playoff berth. Since that, he has missed the playoffs the past 4 seasons. The only other Eastern Conference team to have missed the the playoffs the past 4 years is the rebuilding Atlanta Thrashers (who certainly seem poised to at least make a run). Anyhoo, let's get back to Jay the GM. While he has made very few moves over his career, he has certainly been very active. He rarely misses a GM point, and rarely passes up the opportunity to write an article about some league history or stat. I don't know how or why he collects all this info, but its absolutely fantastic. His articles are always a great read, and he always finds something interesting that someone might have missed. Today, let's all raise our stat books up and celebrate Jay Mohr.

In fantasy leagues you get to control your own team and operate it in any way that you want.  In my mind there is two ways to build a team, the first way is to make knee jerk reactions and make many many trades throughout the year and try to win that way, and then there is the Jay Mohr way.  How Jay built his team and how he operates it is the way I tried to base my approach around because I feel it is the correct way.  Jay keeps his draft picks, doesn't rush them into the pro ranks and lets them develop until they are ready.  He doesnt make trade after trade and lets his team work throught their problems.  I think Jay is a major asset to this league and the way he operates helps us all.  I have learned a great deal from him just by observing and the conversations we have had have been great as he has always helped myself in any way possible.  Congrats Jay you deserve it.

Patience is the word that I think of when I think of Montreal GM, Jay Mohr.  There are very few teams in this league that are patient enough to let their team develop, taking advantage of draft picks and making deals only when it's needed.  That is exactly the strategy that Jay has taken and he has done a heck of a job.  He has built one of the best young teams in the league simply by being patient.  A prime example - Jakub Cech was a 2nd round draft pick way back in 2003 when the league first started.  He is now one of the top goaltenders in the league.  I can see his Montreal team being a playoff contender for many years to come.  Congrats Jay, this honour is well deserved.

A few words on Mr. Mohr...a great guy, and a great FNHL owner -

While Jay's annual All-Star tracking has become synonymous with his GM identity. Jay Mohr is a model GM - not because he's always had the best club (just a single 40-win season) - but rather because his dedication to the Canadiens future best resembles that of an NHL franchise. In a league which features high profile names swapping teams as if they were tissues, Jay Mohr's conservative approach towards pulling the trigger is more realistic to a professional organization. Honored with the 2006 GM of the Year award, Jay Mohr's hardware, longevity, and dedication to the Habs makes him an ideal Hall of Fame pick. Moreover, his Montreal club appears on the brink of long-term success. As was the case with the Islanders, the emerging youth appears on the cusp of blowing up. You can count on Nilsson, Bergsfors & co. leading Mohr's team into the next era of Habs hockey.
